The law of conservation of energy states that energy isn't created and can't be destroyed. It does shift from one form to another at times. An example is a bouncing ball, starts out with the first bounce and each bounce after the first is different in intensity and length.

The law of conservation of energy states that energy can not be created or destroyed, simply transferred from one form to another. For example, the sun's energy is taken in by a plant and stored in chemical bonds, turning the energy from radiation to chemical energy. Simply, the energy is changed from one form to another.

It is a law that simply states that energy can't be destroyed or created. ALthough it can be transformed into matter or mass. If the system is closed or isolated then energy is constant.
