Question by  Laura76 (7)

What is the history of the Shetland sheepdog?

I like the look of the breed.

Answer by  JenaMae (794)

They were originally bred to be herding dogs in Scandanavia. The breed is very watchful and learn very quickly because of this. There is much to support that today's Shetland sheepdogs descend from dogs brought to the continent by Norse settlers, and there has even been bones found from these ancient dogs to support this reasoning.
