Rottweiler dogs are the breed that the Roman troops favored during the reign of the Roman Empire. They are fiercely loyal dogs, and usually take to one person over anyone else, unless raised from a puppy with a family. These dogs need socialization with other dogs and many people.

There actual history is not documented. They most likely descended from mastiff dogs. This shows up in their strength, willingness to work, and loyal nature. It is believed they where breed to be used as guard dogs for the romans. There was a time when rottweilers where almost gone and the germans starting working on breeding to bring them back.
