One of the oldest beverages, earliest 3400-3000BC in Iran. In 2000BC, Egyptians prescribed beer for illness and sacrificed to gods. Egyptians taught the Greeks. Rise of Christianity, monks were first to brew beer as a trade. Middle Ages: women were primary brewers. Globally, it is a $294.5 billion industry.

Beer - although we probably would not recognise it against what we drink today - has been drunk in all parts of the world throughout history. Earliest records of beer come from the middle east and date back to 6000BC ! Apart from being thirst-quenching it would have beeen safer to drink than than many sources of water

I believe the Egyptians were among the first to brew their own beer. Women were the brewers because they didn't trust the men to do it, and we know why.

Beer dates back to the 6th millennium. And was recorded in ancient Iraq and Iran, as one of the worlds oldest beverages. Early Sumerian writings contain references to beer also.
