What is the history of ballet slipper shoes?

They were used as dancing shoes. The idea is that they don't slip easily and let you prance off the floor easily.

An 18th century dancer, Marie Camargo of the Paris Opera Ballet was the first to use something similar to the ballet shoe.

Ballet became popular during the 14th Century in France and Spain. It was no until the 15th Century that ballet slippers developed as a separate style of shoe distinct from fashion shoes. t
