Russian Blue cats are a natural breed. Purebred Russian Blues have mauve footpads, while domestic mix breeds generally have slate gray pads. They also have dark, bottle-green eyes, and their fur is solid blue, with silver guard hairs that makes them look shimmery.

The Russian Blue breed originated from the Archangel Isles in Northern Russia. They were taken to England as ship cats. They were crossbred in England and Scandinavia to revive the breed after WWII and the combination of the two bloodlines became the modern Russian Blue.
