I have a collection of unique Russian dolls, I know that they are called something else other than Russian dolls but am not sure what it is.

Russian dolls made of wood, or maybe plastic that nest inside each other are called Matryoshka dolls. They are often ornately painted.

I always call them baboushka (pronounced ba-boo-sh-ka) dolls. Babushka means grandmother. I think the more proper term is matryushka dolls (pronounced ma-troy-sh-ka). add a comment
