What is the greatest love poem of all time?

I would like to send the words of a love poem to my wife but do not want just any love poem.

"When You Are Old" by William Butler Yeats.

This would depend greatly on what type of writing you and your wife like. My own personal favorite is by e. e. cummings, titled "somewhere i have never travelled". Good luck!

There are two contenders for this title, but they are a little overused. The first is Shakespeare's Sonnet #18 ("Shall I compare thee to a summer's day") and Elizabeth Barrett Browning's "Sonnets from the Portuguese" #43 ("How do I love thee? Let me count the ways"). "I Thought of You" by Sara Teasdale is a little more unusual but excellent.
