A LNB receiver or "low-noise block" is the receiving antenna for parabolic satellite dishes. The high frequency signals that are ideal for transmission through the air are collected by the LNB waveguide, which then amplifies and converts the signal to a lower frequency, suitable for transmission in coaxial cables in your house.

LNB stand for low noise blockconverter. Usually seen at the center of a satellite dish, where the cable attaches to. It receives a group of channels at very high frequency and converts, or shifts, this block to a lower frequency. This reduces signal loss in the cable.
