Only close family and friends should receive an invitation because many people would think this is a hint for a gift.

All family members of the graduate should get the invitations, as well as anyone significant in his or her life, such as coaches, close friends, pastors, neighbors, coworkers, and mentors.

Graduation invitations should go to the parents and step-parents of the graduating student. If they are married or engaged, graduation invitations should go to that individual and their parents.
