The Electra Complex was a theory developed by Freud. It is the opposite of the Odepius complex which states that all young boys have romantic feelings for their mothers. The Electra Complex states that all youg girls have romantic feelings for their fathers.

Electra Complex, coined by Carl Jung, is defined as the psychosexual feelings a female feels for her father, it is the female equivalent to the Oedipus Complex; described by a females subconscoius attachment to her father and resentment of her mother. It is said the girl then emulates her mother to keep her love.

Freud's theory that a woman's psychosexual development is based on an attraction to her father (girl's version of the Oedipal complex).

The Electra Complex was coined by Carl Jung and refers to the sexual desire a young female child might feel toward her father. Theoretically children become attracted to parents of the opposite sex and become hostile toward the parent of the same sex during a certain stage of development.
