The Torah contains the scriptures of the first five books of the Bible and is considered the most sacred book to Jews. The Talmud was written around 70 AD after the Temple was destroyed. It contains interpretations of the law, the Psalms and Proverbs, plus Bible commentaries.

The Torah refers to the five books of the Hebrew Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The talmud is a separate collection of discussions on Jewish law and history.

The Torah is just one of three parts of the Hebrew Bible (aka the Tanakh) which is comprised of (1) the Torah (aka the five books of Moses, or Pentateuch), (2) Nevi'im (aka Prophets) and (3) Ketuvim (aka Writings). Notice the acronym? TaNaKh.  add a comment

The Torah is considered to be the written law, while the Talmud is comprised of oral law. The written law is held to be of stronger force than the oral law.  add a comment
