What is the difference between stockings and pantyhose?

Stockings come all the way up from your feet to the top of your belly button.Stockings are also thicker than pantyhose.You are more likely to wear stockings in the winter.Pantyhose come up from you feet to your hips.Pantyhose are thin compared to stockings.You would wear pantyhose in the spring and summer.

Pantyhose is one complete unit of clothing that covers the feet, legs and waist. Stockings comes in two pieces covering the feet and legs.

In common usage, there is no difference between stockings and pantyhose. Traditionally, there can be two differences: pantyhose are generally made of synthetic fabrics, while stockings are made of silk, OR pantyhose go up to the waist (hence panty), while stockings end at the thigh.
