Male and female Mourning Doves are almost indistinguishable without DNA sexing, and will take turns tending the nest and hatchlings even after they have left the nest. After maturity they are entirely similar in coloring, and after 3 months it is even difficult for the casual observer to discern an adult from a juvenile bird.
That's a very good answer. It does take lot's of experience to tell the difference. I am very impressed that you know the difference. A lot of people don't know. I just want to say thank you for taking your time to write this. Gave me lots of information!
