The main difference between bread and toast would be that toast is actually cooked, or heated up bread. It is placed in a toaster oven and heated to a certain degree of darkness. Bread on the other hand is non cooked, sliced baked dough of flour and water that is prepacked for sale.

Bread, in it's simplest form is a flour and water dough that has been baked. Just about every culture on earth has a native form of bread, most commonly flat bread. The term toast, generally speaking, is used to describe a slice of bread that has been heated or 'toasted' on one or both sides.
