The major difference between African dance and hip hop is that one is a derivative of the other. Certain hip hop dances originate from some of the movements that native African tribes do in their tribal ceremonies. These rhythmic movements have been passed down through the generations, and have incorporated themselves into hip hop.

African Dances are actually closely related. These dances are more tribal dances. However, Hip-Hop Dances have been originated from the tribal dances and have been recently changed to more breakdancing over the past few years.
