Rap describes a type of music. Hip-hop is more commonly used to describe a life style that includes a certain type of music. Hip-hop music tends to have more scratching and does have a distinct beat. Rap music includes rapping over other types of music such as soul or heavy metal.

Rap is like when they talk about like there life like trouble they went threw and hip hop is like something you can dance to and is more like singing
