Redness on skin when swimming with chlorine treated water is a chlorine sensitivity. An allergic reaction is a hypersensitivity to chloride and take longer to go away.

The difference between a chlorine allergy and chlorine sensitivity is the reaction.If you are sensitive to chlorine,the symptoms will be not as obvious and will appear only if you are exposed for an amount of time.If you are allergic the symptoms will appear right away.
