What is the definition of "littoral?"

This is in the context of property, I think.

A littoral is basically a place that rests near the shore of a body of water, but in terms of real estate it refers to a home that rests beside water. A home that is littoral would be one that rests beside a pond, lake, bay, ocean, etc. An example of a littoral would be a beach house.

The word means the area that pertains to or borders an ocean, sea, lake, stream or river. It includes the shore up to the high water line to the best of my understanding. Littoral Rights relate to property owners along bodies of water, for rivers and streams they are called riparian corridors, and concern the rights to use the shores.
