"Introverted" comes from the Latin introvertere, which is "to turn in". Consequently, "introverted" can mean that something is turned inward on itself or, as a psychology term, that one usually turns the mind inward and examines one's own thoughts and feelings. As a common adjective, it can mean the person being described is shy and reserved.

A person who is introverted is inward-looking, reflective, and perhaps shy and quiet. The opposite of introverted is extroverted. While an extroverted person gets energy from being around others, the introvert needs alone time to feel refreshed. Introverts are reserved and prefer less social activity or interaction in comparison with extroverts.
