Currently first class postage for a regular sized envelope (up to 1 ounce) is $. 44 (44 cents). However, for this price one can buy a "Forever Stamp" that will be worth whatever the current or future price of a stamp becomes.

Currently, a single postage stamp from the United States Postal Service is Forty Four Cents. The price jumped two cents from Forty Two Cents in May of 2009. The rate seems to jump every few years, sometimes more. The good news is that the Post Office puts out notices before hand to warn customers.

postage is $. 44 for the first ounce. After that it is an additional $. 17 per ounce. If the package is over 13 oz, it will have to go another way.
