Either are acceptable. I live in Canada and was taught that the correct spelling is vendor. This is the British English spelling that we were taught in school. Standard American English favors vender. I think that you can use one of the other, but be consistent if you are writing an article.

The correct spelling for this word is vendor. Vendor is a person who supplies or sells to a certain market.

When I was in grade school we learned that a vender was an individual who sold or supplied something and that a vendor was a company or supplier (generally a wholesale or manufacturer based supplier) who sold or supplied something. But then, who knows?!?  add a comment

When I was in grade school the Nuns taught us that a vender was an individual who sold or supplied something and that a vendor was a company or wholesaler who sold or supplied something; but... who knows?!? Both seem to be correct if you are consistent in your spelling.
