What is the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA)

Does it have something to do with federal funds for states?

Yes, it does. It is in charge of the allocation of certain funds which help to balance the budgets in poorer states by providing financial assistance to these states. Careful records are kept to insure the proper usage of these funds. Also, this money comes from states which ahve traditionally higher tax revenues.

CFDA is a full listing of 2107 federal programs available to state and local government. Included are Depts' of Agriculture,Interior, Justice, Education and Health/Human Services.
