Associate the crate with good things; give the dog a treat when he goes into the crate. Vary the time the dog is in the crate from seconds to minutes.

You want to teach your dog that the crate is a safe place for your dog. Never force or scold them to go in a crate. You want to keep the crate in a popular area of the house, such as the living room or kitchen. Slowly get your dog used to the crate, start with small periods of time.

Make it comfortable and give him treats when you put him there so that he associates it with positiveness, He will think of it as his 'bedroom', So NO GUILT!
