If recent, blot as much as you can, brush cornstarch into the stain, let set for an hour and vacuum- NOT to be used for delicate fabric. Try applying a bit of brown paper, set your iron to the setting for that fabric and iron, it should lift the vaseline into the paper- NO STEAM, or dishwashing soap spot applied.

Rub a little dishwashing detergent and let it stand. You need something to break down the Vaseline. Wash in warm water.

Vaseline can be removed by soap, just like any other grease. Soap will make the Vaseline water soluble. Rub laudry detergent into the stain. Then wash the entire item in the warmest water that the fabric can handle. If the fabric is not washable, it's best to take it to the dry cleaner and let a professional remove the grease.
