Espoma Hollytone is the best fertilizer for Cypress trees. Do not over fertilize, follow the directions on the bag, but use only 1/2 the recommended amount (splitting the application). Fertilize at the time of planting and later 60-90 days later. Be sure the second time occurs before the frost. Be sure to water the fertilizer well each time.
