Smoke detectors are most important for places like the kitchen where fires are more prone, but placing them in every room of a house or business is a good idea.

Most people have at least 3 or 4 in their home but it all really depends on the size of your home. I would put one in each of the bedrooms, one in the kitchen area, and one in every other common area. I would also be sure to have one in any of the halls.
