If I were faced with the issue of finding an alternative to conventional metal braces, I would choose the Invisalign solution. They are a non-metal, alignment alternative that does not cause tooth or gum irritation. They also are nearly invisible and you have the option of removing them as you feel it is needed.

An alternative to braces for crowded teeth is veneers. Veneers are thin porcelain caps that cover the front of your teeth. Your dentist will smooth out your teeth and may remove some enamel then apply the veneers with a cement. Veneers are very expensive, but you get result in one or two visits versus one or two years for braces.

Try Invisi-Line mouthwear. It is a clear mouth piece, similar to a retainer, but a nice alternative to braces.

I promise you that if you need braces it will not be that bad. If you really want another way you can ask about those invisline things. I do not know too much about them, or how well they work. It might be worth a shot. Braces will not kill you if you need them.
