Remington and Proctor-Silex are long-time players in the dryer industry and are known for reliability and long time-innovation. Other brands like Conair and Vidal Sassoon are also well known but Remington dryers especially are known for long life.

Personally i like the Maytag front loading dryer, it has a large capacity and dries clothes in a very quick manner.

In my opinion, Whirlpool makes the best electric dryers. I have owned 2 of them, both bought second hand, and they have each performed well for years and years.

Amana has good, reliable dryers, rated highly by Consumer Reports. Some options are moisture sensing, various temperature settings and large capacity. Next best is GE, making several great models in their Profile line. Expect to spend approximately $500 to $600 for a good quality dryer, and make sure you get the warranty as well.
