Overweight women need to gain at least minimum 11 pounds. Women that are within a normal healthy weight range need to gain 25-35 pounds. 10-15 extra pounds should be gained by women if they are underweight. For multiple pregnancies women are recommended to gain 24 pounds by the 24th week.

You should gain 15-35 pounds for a normal preganancy. More if you are underweight, less if you are overweight. Add extra 5-10 pounds of each additional child to account for weight of baby, fluid, cord, etc.

When I was pregnant I gained 6 pounds, but I am told and have seen that the norm is about 10 pounds. With multipules I would have to say that it is at least 20-25 pounds.

Weight gain during pregnancy varies by the person. Some people gain a ton of weight. I gained 70 lbs. with each of my two children. Some of my friend have had multiple pregancies and have only gained 20 or so pounds. There is no real average to speak of. It just varies by the person.
