Cockatiels are approximately the size of a drinking glass. In fact, most cockateils would fit inside of the average drinking glass. They all average about the same size as adults, with little variation. Other objects they could be compared to, in terms of size, include your hand and a computer mouse.

Adult cockatiels average 11" to approximately 14". Their lifespan can pass 20 years if they have proper care and surroundings. The cage should be large enough for exercise and flight cages are recommended. Cockatiels bond with humans, mimic them, and will follow you around. They love fresh fruits and vegetables.

There are many different speices or breeds of cockatiels, varying in size. They have a life expectancy of 15-20 years. Cockatiels are the less demanding of the parrot family. You can teach your pet to speak quickly with patience and treat rewards. Your cage size and amount of free time outside the cage can also effect its size.
