There are many new cancer treatments coming out all the time. How long you will live depends a lot on how much it has spread to other organs.

Stage II breast cancer has a 72% survival rate after 5 years. Treatment includes modified radical mastectomy (partial breast removal) and radiation. If operated on quickly enough with adequate radiation follow-up, odds of patient survival are favorable. If your mother has a certain type of breast cancer, her odds of survival go up even more.

Great strides have been made in the area of breast cancer. Life expectancy depends on where it has spread to and if the estrogen receptors are negative or positive. These factors will also determine what type of chemotherapy are given and for how long. Many women are leading normal healthy lives after treatment of breast cancer.

I was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer over a year ago. With a mastectomy surgery, even with finding some cancer in lymph nodes, I am on a medication and as long as I have regular check-ups, am told it could be under control for many years.
