To get a motorcycle permit we need to pass a written test.Usually you need to take up two tests to get permit for motorcycle,they are permit test which contains questions based on motorcycle manual and usage.Then comes license test where you need to take your motorcycle for drive and demonstrate the rules and usage.

It depends on your state. Age is a major factors when applying for a permit. Most likely, if your under 18, you'll need to take a class and a rider's test. If over 18, you might be able to challenge the class and just take the rider's test.
