In 2004, President Bush signed a law called the 'Identity Theft Penalty Enhancement Act'. The law also is clear to establish identity theft as a criminal offense and sets mandatory penalties for aggravated identity theftCriminals who are convicted will get a mandatory sentence of five years in prison

When we found there was theft,at first we should try to get back the things which were stolen.if theft is not severe,we can forgive the person who did that or else handover him to the police is the best punishment.

There are several types of identity theft and different laws concerning id theft. Some states have specific id theft laws and others don't. There are also some federal laws i.e. HIPAA. Punishment will vary greatly. Most id theives are never caught so no punishment is "normal".

that depends entirely on the severity of the crime. normally st minimum 1 year prison. Depending upon the situation the circumstances escalate from there. Not a good idea to screw around with this for sure,.
