Usually the term MyFi relates to the usage of a personal, portable wireless router. The wireless router is smaller and performs the same basic functions as a home wireless router.

Myfi is a small wireless device about the size of a credit card that performs the functions of a modem, router and access point. It allows you to access wifi as well as set up a local area network and have continuous access to the internet. Mifi is expensive however.
