Morphea is another name for scleroderma that is more localized. It involves plaque formation over the skin involving the cutaneous and sub-cutaneous tissue. It is an accumulation of excess collagen. It does not involve any internal injury, only dermatological effects.

This is a type of skin disorder. It is synonymous with scleroderma; the only difference is that this is scleroderma that is confined to a small area. The disorder occurs when extra collagen is collected in the dermis or subcutaneous tissue, thus causing the tissue to thicken and harden.
