Hydrangeas are easily transplanted by carefully digging all the root portion and watering well after transplanting. Adding a teaspoon of Epson Salt around the plant produces a dark blue flower. Red clay however will produce a vibrant pink.

First you need to make sure that when you dig the plant up that you get all the roots. It is best to transplant hydrangeas when the temperature is cool.

Transplanting a hydrangea should be done in cool weather. Transplanting in the heat of the summer is a higher risk because the plant is already under stress from the heat.

Make sure area or container has a good drainage system. Late fall or winter is the recommended time to transplant. Afternoon shade, water well, and mist often.

You have to choose the right location in planting the hydrangeas as well as the right climate because the optimal conditions are needed for the plant to flourish.

Know that this plant will be heavy when you are moving it because you have to dig up a large root ball. Also, you are going to want to move it to a shady spot. Also, remember to throughly water it but only water it a lot if you have proper soil drainage.

The most important thing to remember is to make sure you have the whole big enough so when you put the root base in they are all covered be careful how much you water them when first transplanted they flood very easily give them a bit of plant food after re-planting and they will do fine.
