Typically a small incision is made around the nipple or underneath the breast avoiding areas of scar tissue or previous incision. The implant is removed through the hole, inspected, and weighed. This weight is compared to prior surgical notes to make sure it has not lost any volume. The incision is stitched closed and is repeated on the opposite side.

That depends on what type of implant it is. If it is a saline implant, it is easier. They simply drain the saline solution and remove the "bag." If it's a silicone implant, the surgeon will make an incision and then remove the implant and suture the area up.

The surgeon will cut a open up the skin on the underside of the breast. Then he'll take out the implant from there, and stitch the skin back together.

Breast implant removal is done if there is change in current implant size, if there is leaking or could be due to contracture at the site. It is done under general anaesthesia and basically involved small incision at the side of the breast followed by removal of the breast. It can take half to an hour for the procedure.

They first gain access to the pocket that they are lying in, then they drain the implants of fluid, then they disect them out and remove them. Then they suture you up and you are done.
