There is a very simple answer to this question. Your age doesn't matter, if someone gives you a gift it is good manners to send them a thank you note to show your appreciation for their kindness.

This question needs to be rephrased "What ARE graduation announcements etiquette for adult students? " If they are announcing their graduation, the best way to do it is by mail. ste the announcement (date, without inviting all) in a small card that can be bought in bunches at Office Max.

Actually, the original poster left out an article which should have preceded 'graduation announcements etiquette', but the correct verb is 'is' - not 'are'. You wouldn't say "What are etiquette?", you'd say "What is etiquette?". It's rude to correct someone's grammar - and pathetic when you're the one who's wrong.  add a comment

These are optional for adult students, especially for high school or four year programs; graduate school, however, should have announcements. As far as gifts, you are unlikely to receive much money in return for sending these out as people may interpret it as begging, especially in tough economic times such as these.
