This could be caused by a number of things such as a virus or corrupted files. Use your anti-virus program and run a scan. If this is not the problem, then delete Temporary Internet Files, Cache, and History. Still does not work? Try restoring your computer to an earlier time, before the freeze became apparent. Good Luck!

There could be several reasons why your computer freezes on the XP screen. A virus could have caused your startup processes to lockup and or allocate to memory that is not available. You could also have faulty hardware such as RAM that is error-ridden. Also, boot files may have become corrupted causing your PC to freeze on startup.

Slow or unresponsive computer screens can be fixed by deleting all your cookies, getting the latest Windows Updates, and increasing Ram on your PC. Viruses can lock up a computer.

There are a good number of things that can cause that. Your graphics card or motherboard could be failing, you could have a really bad virus, etc. To check if it is the graphics card, try to boot in safe mode. If you can then you have a bad infection.
