Canadian balsam is used for and or as an adhesive. It was used as a glue for lens as well as a glue for microscopes because of it's ability to dry clear.

It can be used as an adhesive, especially as an optical mounter in laboratories. It is also used in some paints and in at least one type of cough medicine.

Canadian balsam has many uses. This time of year as the holidays are in full force, it can be used in decorations to provide greenery. Also the oils extracted from this plant are used to make fragrances giving the illusion of a pine or evergreen forest resembling a freshly cut Christmas tree.
