Binomial factoring is rewriting a polynomial expression as the product of two or more binomials. A binomial is an expression with two terms. For example: x^2 + 3x + 2 can be rewritten as (x + 1)*(x + 2) 3x^2 + 13x + 4 can be rewritten as (3x + 1)*(x + 4)

The most basic way to factor a binomial is by using the GCF. For example: 5x - 30 can be factored into 5(x - 6) because the GCF of the two terms is 5. Another method is difference of squares: x^2 - 16 can be factored as (x - 4)(x + 4).

It is when you pull out a common factor in a binomial expression. An example would be as follows: 2x + 4 could be factored by pulling out the 2: 2(x + 2). You are pulling out the 2 in both expressions. Another example: x^2 - x becomes: x(x - 1).
