Bark lice is a small insect that lives in trees. This insect creates a webbing in trees. The webbing is harmless but may cause home owners discomfort in seeing them. These insects are almost always on trees but aren't noticed unless they're seen in high numbers. Over populate can result in complete webbing of the tree.

Bark lice are very small (under 1/4") insects with long antennae and two pair of wings. They are beneficial in that they feed on fungi, dead plant matter etc. Their silky webbing can engulf a tree by summer's end, which can be unsightly- however, they will eventually devour the webbing itself.
