Also known as dysautonomia, it is an autonomic nervous system disorder that can be acute and reversible like Guillain-Barre, or progressive and chronic. It can be associated with degenerative brain disorders such as Parkinson disease. Several other diseases like diabetes and alcoholism can include dysautonomia. There is no cure, but secondary autonomic dysfunction may respond to treatment.

Autonomic dysfunction is a medical term that talks about any disease of the autonomic immune system. Another term for it is dysautonomia. The autonomic immune system provides regulations for the body's functions. Autonomic dysfunction causes a disruption in the functions of the immune system which could result in various other diseases.

The more common name for this condition is autonomic dysreflexia. This condition most often affects people who have lost function in a part of their body. People with this condition cannot manage such things as sensation or manage their body temp. There is no cure for this condition and in some cases may cause death.

The common types of dysautonomia are postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, vasovagal syncope, mitral valve prolapse dysautonomia, pure autonomic failure, neurocardiogenic syncope, neurally mediated hypotention, autonomic instability and cerebral salt-wasting syndrome.
