What is appropriate attire for attending a musical in San Francisco?

just dress in casual stuff but make sure it suits the weather, a nice pair of shoes and jeans and maybe a peacoat with a scarf or something if its going to be cold. there are no rules in what u are wearing but u might want to jest towards the plays stle

A good idea is to contact the venue hosting the musical and inquiring about appropriate attire for the evening. If you cannot contact them or they are vague assume that a nice suit or dress with stockings should be appropriate. Formal wear up to the wearing of tuxedos and gowns is possible but not likely.

I would imagine that a musical in San Franciso would be the same as a musical anywhere else and therefore you would wear the same attire. Whenever I go to a musical I always dress nice, a cute dress or nice pants and shirt.

It depends on the setting of the musical. If it is located in a more casual setting, business casual would be appropriate (think: slacks, blouse, nice shoes). If it is downtown, I would suggest a skirt or dress pants with a nice shirt and heels.

Dress should be semi casual to dressy. Women should wear knee lenth dresses or a maxi dress that does not look like it was purchased at a rummage sale. In the summer a floral sundress works perfectly. Men should wear dress pants, a jacket, and an open collar shirt.

People in the Bay Area are notoriously casual about their attire. However, if you feel like making it a special occasion, wear office casual clothes or even what you wear to church on Sunday. Its all up to you! Opera openings can be dressy, but everything else is fair game.

San Francisco has always been welcoming to widely disparate personality types. Basically, just wear whatever you will be most comfortable in, keep in mind that it is Southern California and currently Summer, and you should be just fine. Also, flowers in your hair is never a bad idea.
