amyloidosis is an inexpicalble build of of proteins known as amyloids in organs ad tisues of the body. It is commonly seen in the heart, liver, kidneys. spleen and the GI tract and th nerve systeml It comes from the cells in the bone marrow

Amyloidosis is a disease in which abnormal proteins called amyloid proteins build up in the organs. Organs most commonly affected are the heart, kidneys, liver, spleen, nervous system and gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms will vary based on affected organs. The exact cause is unknown, however can be attributed to genetics and chronic infection/inflammatory diseases. Treatment is based on the determined cause.

It can effect either a particular tissue or organ, or multiple sites. The proteins that build up are misshapen. Amyloidosis may be inherited or acquired.

Amyloidosis is not cancer. It is when too much of a certain protein builds up in your body in a certain organ. This disease is actually a disease of the bone marrow, yet the protein builds up in the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, nervous system and heart.
