You could use deco boxes. These are boxes that are square, sometimes have a back and sometimes don't. They have a glass front, and come in many colors. You can decorate the insides of these with many different things in many different themes. You could hang these one your walls, and even arrange them in patterns on your wall.

use different vintage plates, glasses, mugs that you find at thrift stores. They have tons of this stuff for 25 cents. It could look really cool. Mugs are really easy to find.
