Late rental payment fees can typically be any amount the landlord wishes, though the amount should be listed in the lease agreement. If it is not in your contract you should not have to pay a late fee. Normal late fees range from $35-$50 on average though some areas charge considerably higher fees. Talk to a lawyer if you're concerned.

The late fee is stipulated in the lease/contract. It be a percentage (of rent), or a flat rate of $50, $100 or more. If a late fee is not detailed in the lease, there is no late fee. If you signed the lease, you agreed to whatever is stated therein.

Ten percent of rent per day late is normal. Unreasonable late fees have been struck down by courts before but they are usually cases where the tenants moved out early and there was a lot of money involved.
