A trammel point is a short metal spike used on a construction compass, used for scoring lines into materials such as wood. They are important because they allow accurate curves to be cut.

A trammel point is a tool used to mark distances too large for conventional compasses and dividers. They measure accurately, can transfer measurements, scrib arcs and lay circles. Attaches to most 1/2" to 1 1/8" wide rulers. An example for use in construction, to mark drywall for large round window.

A trammel point is one of a pair of instrument used in conjunction with a beam to make a compass. This is a very precision instrument used in construction for scribing radius markings that you could later cut.
