Most common threats of miscarriage are an abnormal fetus, some chronic illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease. Infections, including German measles and abnormalities of female organs can also be the cause of a miscarriage.

A threatened miscarriage means that the conditions in your body may indicate that you are unable to sustain a pregnancy. For example, low progesterone levels, i. e. less than 10 ng/ml, could be a sign that your body may be starting to miscarry. Excessive menstral-like bleeding may be a similar indication.
